Tires fit 26mm wheels just changes the profile to a more squared shape.

To Any one: I haven't glue my USGT spec tires to the 26 MM wheels yet, what do people think about the handling quality of the tire on 24 vs 26 MM wheels? I'm more concerned about the lateral grip characteristics of the tires than having a totally scale appearance.

BTW Thanks Paul L, the tires arrived Saturday and look geat, can't wait to get a chance to run them.

I personally did not like them on 26mm wheels they had an overall lack of traction for me. So if your looking for performance I would say go with 24mm if looks is what you need then go 26mm. Im sure someone will have tried them on 26mm and liked them so its really opinion.

Now that the new spec tire has been "official" for a month, what set up changes are you finding you had to make?

Kevin, Paul Lemieux @ Gravity agrees with you, he emailed me from the birds and said exactly that "24mm for performance". I now have two sets on order.

I sure wish someone (Mike R, are you out there?) would make 24mm wheels with some offset (+3 or a little more, please). All I've been able to find is +2mm Tamiya wheels. I like the 200mm bodies and I'm not a fan of the look of 200mm bodies on 190mm wide chassis.
I wish that the Gravity tires were 26mm, too.
Oh well, as dad said.........Wish in one hand, $**+ in the other and see which one fills up first.

I have also used M4 Countersink washers in a pinch too... you're only gonna add an extra 2mm max of thread anyway, this gave me an extra 4mm overall track width increase which came in handy as a tuning adjustment on my front wheels to help add a little push.

It's amazing how many uses I get out of countersink washers, some come in 9mm widths which make excellent supports for mounting servos too:

Yeah you can always use wider hexes...and depending on your car you can also widen the car at the arm mounts too if you have that option and you can get a the look with the 24mm wheel.

I like MikeR and I like his products. Guess I'll be getting wider hexes for the TC4. :-)

I know I unkindly posted the hex link but you have to check it on some older cars. Some older cars don't have the extra stub axle length that the newer cars have to install wider hexes

I e-mailed TQ about 24mm wheels with offsets other than 0. They suggested the one Tamiya wheel that I already knew about. I know that USGT is a "niche market" for a company like Tamiya. I expect that MikeR doesn't have the capital to invest in new molds for wheels, especially when he just released a wheel (I feel) for us. Here's to hoping that wider hexes help my TC4.

MikeR, I didn't take your post as unkindly, but informative. RaceVTA.com has some hexes that I'm hoping will fix my "problem". :-)

My LHS stocks a lot of HPI wheels in 0-9mm offsets, not sure if they are available in 24mm tho. You may try HPI's site and see what they have

I've seen some folks install the nylocks backwards so the nylon thread is closest to the wheel to ensure a good lock, only problem with this is the lack of a serrated edge.

Another idea if low on threads is to use a "Low Profile" lock nut similar to these if you still need to have a serrated edge:

the TC4 is 8-32, not 4mm. Associated does sell low pro 8-32 nuts. Thanks.

Those are all 26mm.
