Questions?? Undersupplying?

Hey all,
I am going to be getting a HobbyKing ECO6-10 200W 10A 6S Bal/Dis/Cyc Charger w/ acc and I cant find a power supply that is semi cheap and provides enough power. But they have a 105w, 7 amp, 15v. Would it be detrimental to the charger if I only charged at 7 amps. Also if you guys have a good charger/psu combo under $75 please suggest it.

Regards,
Jackson

What will you be charging and at what rate? I have a FMA PL6 and when I charge a 2S pack at 10a it's only pulling like 6a from my power supply at 13.8v. It would pull less with a 15v supply like the one you listed. So even though it CAN pull 40a doesn't mean that it ever will. In my case it won't get close to that so I don't really need a power supply that can provide it., but if you're doing 4s or 6s packs or like 5c charge rates then you should look into a bigger power supply.

Just a quick question,
In the link above would it just plug right into the charger?
Regards,
Jackson

Should just plug in if the charger uses bullets on the end.

Sorry for the excessive posting but I am just wondering about future upgradability. With the psu above would I be able to power a power lab 6 or do volts matter? Or is it just the watts and amps that matter?

Regards,
Jackson

Volts can matter for many of the big chargers like a PowerLab. It depends on the voltage of the batteries being charged, and the charge amperage desired. For 2S lipos higher voltage supplies are not required, 3S and up at high charge rates they are.

This calculator provides insight on what type of power supply, volts and amps, is needed for a PL6 in various situations.

Many of the big chargers including the PL6 provide settings for the power supply being used, the charger will automatically limit charge amperage to prevent overloading the supply.

What kind of batteries are you going to be charging?

If it's just 2s LiPos, get that 40a charger and never worry about if your PSU has enough juice.

I bought this and it works so flawlessly! Just as good as the MaxAmps version.
