my opinion is that you guys need to get a bigger following before adding anything.... not to be mean but 10 racers isnt quite cutting it to consider opening the building for another night.

its just my two cents but i feel like it needed to be said
if im wrong tell me im wrong but i see the sheets when we come in thursday to set up for offroad and its a little concerning to me

Help me understand.

Does the club have to pay utilities?

If it is a flat fee for rent then what difference does it make as long as someone is there to turn off the lights when all is said and done?

First off -- Spike is an idiot for Posting that and has no more authority than any other member, and didn't fully think through his post!! So, don't mind his comment.

At Spike: This is a club for guys/gals to get together and race RC cars, whether its 5 guys or 100 guys -- its all the same. It is not onroad vs. offroad -- we are one club of RC racers. At the end of the week all the money collected goes into the same pot to be used by the club to facilitate RC racing. Regardless of if its onroad or offroad -- its all the same.

Second -- The onroad program is fine and will continue to improve as the season progresses as it did last year.

Third -- If the onroad guys want a week night race/Practice - no problem - all you need to do is organize it. I would suggest Monday or Tuesday as the jumps are off. There are several board members who race onroad who can arrange access. If its something you guys want - Someone just needs to take the bull by the horns and do it.

Default on-road practice

I would be more than willing to pay for a practice session if that is a concern.

An on-road practice night would also have the potential to increase interest, as a measurable number of those who practice on Wednesday night don't race at all.

As Matt stated, if it's not an issue of cost, and just a matter of someone opening/closing the door?

Why not?

I wish the club success...to give folks a place to enjoy racing in any form, be it off-road or on-road. What does it matter?

Here's the thing Spike.

There is no "summer on-road" season - when the carpet gets put away, on-road guys are pretty much done for the year.

Not so with off-road. When outdoor tracks close up for the winter, they go indoors and rarely miss a week of racing. They might go to MARCCA carpet off-road or maybe to Trackside, should you prefer dirt.

With on-road, it takes a bit for folks to get back in the groove, to drag their stuff off the shelf, and then fit it in their schedules. It takes a bit, especially when the location/venue changes from year to year.

Towards the end of the year, the on-road program generated an awesome turnout long after the indoor off-road program essentially died. Not a bad thing, it's just the way of things - it's all good.

It's a not-for-profit club, that has a mission statement to provide a place for RC car enthusiasts a venue to enjoy our hobby. If someone turning on the lights to let a few guys practice or race, what's the harm? How can that be a bad thing?

keith i understand your concern and you know as well as the rest that we make sure every truck that comes through the door is safe to run on carpet.
