JW, can you point me in the right direction to find that rule in the AARCMCC book? I have it in front of me but cannot see or find the wording you refer to...

I wonder how long it will take ROAR to make a new "ROAR 91" type rule that sets a max timing amount for all stock motors again?
Does anyone remember being LOCKED at 24 degs?

Stock racing is great. Such a level playing field. It's great to watch cars with identical speeds battle it out in an exhibition of driver skill.

I wish it would come back in...Stock should mean just that, and I have been a supporter of those wishing to see it move back to a more level playing field. But while the rules allow it, they will always be pushed to the limit...

Might as well all go buy Thunder Power motors with 90deg timing out of the box....
My BASIC understanding to the ROAR approval process was that these motors (thunder power, Trinity/fantom Kill shot and Novak Ballistic, plus many more I'm sure ) was that they were approved based upon performance and stringent manufacturing tolerances, even at their (the above listed) when running maximum timing were designed to be relatively comparable to other motors on the market at their maximum timing. If this isn't the case wouldn't every top driver in the world be running the above motors? Or any motor with an increased timing advancement for that matter.

My Sincerest apology to Scott and others, I was under the impression that tampering with a stock motor was Illegal, after consultation with AARCMCC regarding this "Rule" it has been made clear to me that there was a rule back in 2011 and earlier regarding modifying and tampering with stock motors. After a lengthy review of AARCMCC rules, this rule was deleted back in late 2011 when the update was done, I was led to believe. (Having no prior copy or proof of this).
I was under this impression as it was enforced at the Perth Nats in 2011.

Myself , AARCMCC and others have gone through the current rule set and the ROAR rule set and there is no current rule regarding any motor works whatsoever.

I will edit my previous post, this will also be one less detail for me this weekend to scruiteneer making my job that little bit easier.

SO to be clear, if any current stock drivers are looking for a slight advantage, feel free to Dremel you rear end bells to increase the movement of the rear timing plate in increase the motors timing past the manufacturer's recommended markings ( if your motor will allow this )

Hope this clears up any matters regarding this. If anyone has any more questions feel free to ask them and I will endeavour to get an answer ASAP.

Cheers

John

Hey JW, thanks for the clarification...
If any Fantom motor users are interested in the process, please feel free to see me at the track.
For what it's worth though, beyond about an extra 10deg, its a useless mod that will see you go backwards or over heat if your not careful. So if you do the mod at home, I urge you not to exceed the 30deg timing mark on the can! Especially in 4wd, unless you like BBQ!!! In fact I only make the mod in my 2wd motor for a little more top end.
Speed secret #1.3, 2.0.....out there!

the point is when i was playing with motors i was told by a expert that there was only about three or four motors that are true zero timming at o
most had timming inbuilt so at 20 you mite actually be 30 to 35 and you dont no it till you screw it up and cook it but as scott siad it gives you a bit more rpm top end but you loose punch and draw more current ect, plus alot more heat correct me if im wrong just my findings in 21.5 changing sensor boards.
cheers wiggy

Thanks John, removing those crusty bits will help. Now to get the Dremel in the right position.

Cheers

Viewing from a far I haven't looked much at stock rules for years but isn't this a joke? That you can strip your stock motor and get a dremel out and wait for it MODIFY that same stock motor. Isn't there a class already for modified motors ??

It's a massive joke. Embarrassing. For 21.5 you are not meant to touch it in any way. No rotors, no boards no mods, nothing. I never did but stupidly, I always follows the rules.

Anyway, early start tomorrow, good luck everyone. I'm sure it will be a great event as per all Keilor hosted events I've attended.

Agreed Ant. Whether its legal or not, it isnt really in the spirit of a stock class.....
