USGT

Batteries just need to be ROAR legal for USVTA. That is the only limitation. I think the Tamiya Mini Cooper body is for the M02,M03 chassis and I don't think it would fit a standard 4wd car. If it does it will not help the cars handling so I wouldn't recommend it. You could run it under USGT rules though. You can also run a USVTA body as well. They are 200mm wide so the wheels will be tucked in a bit or you can run some larger hexs or different offset wheels if you wanted. I myself would stick with the 0mm offset and standard wheel hex's because the car tends to work better this way and just have a bit more wheel tuck inside the body.
Thanks for the tip on the body. I am going to sit down with her and show her the various bodies available initially from HPI to get an idea of what she likes from there. She'll probably start with some VTA tires as I believe I got a set on the way too.
Lastly, anyone got a setup they recommend for Xray T3s on carpet to start with?
Thanks everyone for all your help!

Thanks for the info. Looking at the USVTA site it says they have a limitation of up to a 5000mah battery?

Sorry, I got confused on this part of your post:
As I was debating between the two classes and being setup basically for both (maybe USVTA body for myself as I like the firebird look), having stuff already legal battery wise would be a plus for reuse. But no worries, all set for info on that then.
Anyone here running heavy battery packs versus common weight packs? If so, what kind of setup difference have you noticed versus common weight ones? (stiffer spring, etc).

Batteries must be 5000 or lower for USVTA
USGT they only need to be ROAR legal.

no prob, have that happen myself a few times too lol. Thanks for responding, I really appreciate that!
Doing some research on the HPI molded wings, I am looking am looking at these three:
http://www.hpiracing.com/en/part/30093

http://www.hpiracing.com/en/part/85197

http://www.hpiracing.com/en/part/85288

I am assuming they are pretty much all the same durability, but just wanted to confirm is anyone feels one type works better than the other from a durability perspective.
Also, I am assuming the tall lexan subaru wing that comes with the body would be illegal correct?

With so much more diversity possible with the USGT body rules, I have been thinking "out-of-the-box" and have found some interesting bodies. DeltaPlastik from Italy now has a US distributor. Check out the DeltaPlastikUSA page on Facebook. I have a couple of Alfa Romeo 155 DTM bodies in 200mm on the way now. :-)

hmm, I probably misinterpreting the 10mm rule lol. is it the actual height from the body to the top of the wing, or, from the bottom of the actual wing portion to the top of the wing portion?
Again, I apologize beforehand if this is common knowledge.

You are measuring from the bottom of the wing, to the highest point on the trailing edge of the wing. I think chord may actually be the wrong term. I guess it's really just the height of the wing.

I expect that they will be expanding their stock of 1/10th scale bodies soon. I have three of their 200mm 1/10th scale bodies and they look MUCH better than the pics on the www.DeltaPlastik.it site.
If you find bodies that you like on the DeltaPlastik.it site, you can e-mail Ben at [email protected] for ordering info. They also have 1/8th scale and other scale bodies as well. He offers volume discounts (10 or more pieces) and if you are patient (6-8 weeks), he can sometimes arrange custom paint jobs as well.
Ben says that if you mention "NutDriver Racing", that he'll include a free set of Lexan scissors and a hobby knife with 5 extra blades!!
