Hawaii R/C Drag Racing
We're starting up again at the Wheeler Park-n-Ride. I normally post at Hawaii Talks, and will continue, but with issues that sometimes occur I will also post here.
We were there this past weekend to do some cleanup (been a couple of years since we were last there) and test a new formula for our spray. Well not really new thanks to Burt at Race World telling me what they use.
We're looking at going back out there on September 29th to do some testing on our timing system. October 20th is also on the schedule where we hope to run some bracket racing.
Same rules will apply that we've had in the past which include following IMDRA class rules, our own site rules, and ROAR rules in the future. I will post those soon. $10 per driver (no limit on cars) to help cover costs. If there is a surplus at the end of the season, we try to get that back to the racers in some form.
Come back to this thread for more information.

Hey JD. We'll probably do Brackets in the beginning until we get more racers. Which is run what you brung but you have to name your time and run no faster. I'll post the rules soon which will show the class rules. Their rule book isn't as thick as ROAR but it's pretty substantial.
I've attached a summary of the 2011 rules just for a basic overview.
The popular classes were INDEX, Electric Pro Stock (Super Gas), Electric Top Fuel Dragster, Electric Alcohol Dragster/Funny Car, Nitro Top Fuel, and Nitro Pro Mod. Probably more electric now than nitro.

Hey Rawn, talk about a big person in a small car, I saw pretty big guy in a Fiat 500 yesterday. I wondered how he got in and out of the car.lol

Rained half the day so only sprayed some so guys to do some launch testing and grudge race. Nice to see some new and old faces out there. ShutDs made it out there and Bernard C. Talked about our rules, plans, and expectations. Basically no changes to our rules, a few changes with IMDRA rules, ROAR required starting next year's season, Bracket Shootout in November, list of supporters, safety safety safety, and it's all about fun. Next outing is October 20th.

Sunday turned out to be pretty good weather despite the ugly looking clouds. Turnout was pretty good with a few new faces and a few old. We were able to run a money bracket race with Russell the newbie with a rtr road car taking the win over the veteran ShutD with his tried and true Mustang. Keoni and James had the fastest 2 cell dragsters running in the low 1.9s. Lawson had the short car et of 1.999.
Next outing is the Bracket Car Shootout set for Sunday, November 10th. It was the 17th but with the Federal furlough, the Guard had a change in their schedule.
See you on the 10th!

Stock traxxas funny car can race? Is there a class for that?
#13
Yes you can run that car. Right now because it's mostly Brackets almost anything can run (within reason). There are a few Traxxas FC's out there and hopefully enough come out to have a class if that's what they racers want. Otherwise Brackets or Index class will work. Bring it out on November 10th!

Not sure where the wheeler park and ride is. Any directions?

Depends where you're coming from but...
Head up H2 toward Wahiawa (from Waipahu/Pearl City). Take the Mililani Tech Park cutoff (next is Wahiawa). Same cutoff to go to Leilehua Golf Course. At the end of the cutoff turn left and stay in the right lane. Before you reach the traffic light there's a parking lot on the right. You'll see a lot of military vehicles. When you enter the parking lot go to the far end by the big tree.
If you use Google Maps, use the following search. The parking lot is across the street:
Army National Guard Recruiting Office, Kamehameha Highway, Mililani, HI
