I can appreciate the design and engineering aspect, but functionally I just don't get it. Short of designing a race track with logs, boulders, and other obstacles, what is the point?
A 1/5th scale can do just about anything in those videos, much much better, for way less money.
A bomb defusing robot is impressive, this is not.

Well... if I wanted 1/5 CAR I would buy 1/5 car, wouldn't I?
I agree tracks are one of the most inefficient means of transportation. They have a lot of friction between links, heavy, maintenance heavy an bad part support.
Why waste time and money to build something that inefficient? I like tracks.
1/5 scale car could do everything from the video for 1/2 the price, yes. Now look at my first post saying that it is not as fast as I hoped and I am working on version 2. Fast is also somehow related to $, so you want fast? Bring me esc and motor that can handle 16s and this thing will fly!
When I wrote Racing tracked vehicle I had in mind 1/5 buggy track not crawling track.

This is how Chinese catalog looks like:

And after 30+ mails to different "number 1 Chinese rubber track manufacturers" I finally got something that roughly represents a drawing. Its a screen shot, 200x200 pix. I modelled 100a and 100b to get better idea how this tracks look like and how would they fit my build. 100b came out as shown in catalog, weight is roughly the same. Guide fins are 15mm tall, outside profile is 12mm tall. This one is my favorite at the moment.
How ever 100a looks a lot different then on the catalog. In catalog inside guide fins look very tall, but on drawing they are only 9.5mm tall and outside profile is 15 mm tall. Weight is also almost identical to 100b (even taking in account that 100a in catalog is longer).
Any suggestions what to improve? (negative comments are also welcome as long as they are not trolling)

That's a great idea, just need to make it lighter. It will need less power and less betters, or have better range with same batteries.
And production rubber track will help a lot. My track weights 5kg each, and it has over 750 parts. It takes a long time to assemble.

Be prepared to be surprised if they will work,Kemen.
Also,I would order one of each to see what will work better.
If neither will do,send both back and tell them what you need.
If the tracks are too short,can you add to them?

I have access to cnc mill and lathe, it's time to finish version 2. I may make few more if needed

slipper? Depends on how tough the drive train is.
