Default ★☆CASTLE ESC ISSUE☆★

I have a castle esc that used to work fine, but all of the sudden when i plug it in, it will not make the beeping set sound, and when i give it throttle it cogs and makes a cracking sound, thinking it was the motor i hooked it to another castle motor and it does the same thing, so i called up castle and they said it was somthing wrong with it cause i run "20c" lipos, so i thought i would ask if this is an issue, running 20c lipos will caus caus an esc to "work to hard"!?!?

That shouldn't be caused by the battery unless you have some funky batteries

Castle will blame anyone, if you have a 65c Lipo but it's only 700mah I can assure you it'll perform worse than a 8000mah 20C pack.

Try resoldering your motor plugs on the ESC, could be a dry solder joint. Also make sure you're set to brushless and not brushed through Castle Link.

But ultimately, get a reliable esc.

If you can get ahold of a 30C or 40C battery, your issues may go away. I had a similar issue with my Novak ESCs. The Novak paperwork and website specifically state that you need 25C or better to perform. The same may well be true of the Castle product.

I have not checked Castle's site as I don't own any of their stuff, but I have several friends who do use Castle products and my LHS sells Castle stuff. I've heard mostly good things about them.

Yeah the esc is like new, I bought it from a dude here on rctech a few months ago, and it just did it like all in a day, I unplugged it and then plugged it back in a few mins later and I noticed it did not make the bleep noise, so I was like and as far as batts go I use venom lipos, in it(and all my other escs) I also tried a team crc 55c 6100 mah lipo and it didn't do any different, I even linked it to the computer and got all the stuff up about it and everything is norm I am gonna make another go at soldering the stuff to see if it is a "dry solder job" as was stated!!
Thanks for the replys guys, every lil bit helps, even if I do not get anywhere I still like the info and opinions

It would also help to now if its a sv2, MMP or MM esc. I had the motor plug pull out on my SV2 from normal use.

And what in the world is a cracking sound? Like the sound of a tooth pick being snapped or wood splintering?

+1 on checking the solder joints, you could have a battery plug that is weakened from vibration.

But ultimately, get a reliable esc.
lulz, castle stuff has been pretty good to me. If you do a search you will find failure with any ESC, so blanket statements like this are pretty silly.

See why blanket statements are useless, I can say the same thing about any other ESC and I will find data to back it up.

with each failure there is way more variables that are not discussed to find the true cause of said failure. So saying one type of esc is bad is still silly, you and I personally do not know exactly what could have caused the failure or what setup some one was running.

I still say run what you like, and take some one that will condone a whole group because there experience with the product may have been bad with a grain of salt.

Well I redone all the solder joints and it still does it, I hooked it back up to the computer and all, the esc will work good but still has not set sounds when powered on and it is very coggy in low power!!!
And about the reliable esc issue, castle is in my opinion a very dang good company, I have seen their escs and motors take more abuse than any "reliable" esc could ever dream of, I bought this one used and I didn't expect it to last forever and it was very reasonable so no complaints there.....and also it is a sct version with the fan on it!!

so its the SV2 with the fan. The SCT combo was the MMP with either the 1401 3800kv or the 1415 2200kv motor.

check the bullet conections on the board its self, see if any of them move when you try to wiggle them.

If you decide to give up on it, send me a pm. Ill pay shipping instead of having you throw it away.
