Hyperion or Revolectrix?
#1
So after going thru 2 iCharger 306B's (both exhibited the black dashes on the display) and no response from BuddyRC after numerous e-mails, I've decided to spend a little more and get a good charger that will last more than a year.
The Revolectrix I was initially thinking of was the Cellpro 10XP

The Hyperion I considered was the EOS 0730i Net3

Both charger companies are very well reviewed and respected so I'm wondering which one would you choose? The biggest difference between them is the Hyper is capable of 30A charging but I don't think I will charge beyond 2S (10A) anyways (mostly 5000mah 4S and 5S lipo's)
Toss a coin or ???

I would go with a little bit more $ and get the Power lab 6 as it will cover your needs and have room for a bit more
Revolectrix Cellpro PowerLab 6 Battery Workstation (6S/40A/1000W)

look around as I have found a bit better pricing on them

Ok so PL6 seems to be the choice.....Amain has the one that tpczx6 linked, has the EC5 connector (which most of my lipo's have) and a few other parts. Can't seem to find anyone else selling them other than the Revo store itself.
$198 isn't too bad if it lasts.
Thanks guys.

We had the original PL8 which was 1000W for years that ran almost everyday flawless. We now have the new PL8 and a PL6 with the parallel charging board. We use it for the business and they are real workhorses.
Make sure you use 24V power supplies for them. It takes full advantage of the higher voltage so you will draw lower amperages.

The Revo I'm looking at from Amain looks to come with a JST balance adapter.

Correct?

Power supply voltage depends a lot on the cell count-voltage of the packs, and some on the amps you want to charge at of course. Higher voltage is nice, but not absolutely needed for 2S and 1S packs even at the full 40 amp charge.
Starting at 3S and up more voltage is needed to get full amps. More than 24 volts even for 5S and 6S.
The official PL6 power supply calculators, makes it easy to see using your pack sizes and desired charge rates:
PowerLab 6 Calculator 1 - at what current can I charge using my existing power supply?
PowerLab 6 Calculator 2 - what kind of power supply do I need to charge my LiPo at a current I specify?
