Best Value For Money .12 Nitro Motor
#16
Thank you but I'm looking for advice on a motor that is value for money rather than information suited for a beginner. I have been racing for 15 years. I know the in's & out's of the game. I was just seeking advice on everyone's experience with a decent motor for the money that's all.

Value to me is a cheap fast motor that has seen podium spots in its days, not some underperformer that companies still make for bashers... The jlr is it, eventhough the tuned version is really what is still out there for $330... I would take that over any non achievers that sell for $250...

Hmm
You can usually pick up an Ofna Picco .12 for under 100 bucks, it's a ballsy engine and lasts a good long while. Check out their stats for performance, it measures up decently, and if there's a better bang for the buck, I don't know of it.

A good-fast solution is the HPI Nitro Star 12R XS engine.
Many here use this engine in a stock championship.
Very good and cheap motor.

Sorry guys, I was wrong !!! The jlr tuned version is not $330 , but $219.99 at ofnawarehouse. If you send it to Abmods, you'll endup with a race motor for $320... No way to beat that......

The Jlr is based in pre-evo 4 piccos that is well known for their weak rods.stay away.

+1 not trying to bash a company but stay away from the old picco, they don't last, the front bearing leaks like crazy, n the reddots r the piccos that made folks put nova carbs on em, i kno i had one on mine.....smh

Funny u ask, that was the exact picco i had last that leaked like crazy from the front bearing, i wouldn't exactly put that in the category for this thread, cause that motor will b hard to find for cheap!! Also it was really fast for 2 club races and the airtronics race in La a few months ago! That consisted of a practice day, 4quals a 20min C and 12min of the B! Never went over 230° 20% nitro n the piston n button was pitted bad....idk but that was the last picco I will own.....went back to same track same layout with a RB T11rc ran same amount of time at 250°+ turned faster laps (car was Better tho) no pitting on the piston or button....but everyone told me when i bought it, "don't get that it's a picco" they break in fast n wear out just as fast!
I could have had a lemon tho!

I have just been quoted $230AUD including postage for a Novarossi N12T1 & also includes a Stage 5 modification done which gives a 20% increasment in overall performance without effecting fuel efficiency.
I was also quoted for an additional $80 a Novarrosi 2680 Tuned Pipe & a 41615 Manifold.
This was all quoted by Nitro Addicts here in Sydney.

Do not compare so different engines.. in price.if you can buy the 353-09(not the 08,you do not want that) buy it.do not mesh with mod that is like 50-50 to be a good or bad performer.
