Lots of tracks use them! But some work better than others. RC Scoring Pro lists one on their site that works well.

You can trade the RC2 in for the MyLaps-4 decoder plus $330!

I asked my local track owner a couple weeks ago if they (MyLaps) were still doing the decoder upgrade program and he told me "No, it's done". Can anyone else verify this??

Might be worth it to call MyLaps direct.....might extend it to you if they have ended it.

Why?? The rc decoder has both. Can't see why you would need an adapter for that decoder.

Yes, i used to use the cable that RC Scoring Pro has on thier site. I did find one issue. Use the drivers for the cable from 2008. If you upgrade the drivers to 2012 release, it will not work. Since laptops no longer have card slots to add serial card, you have to use usb serial adapter. One other option as well, if you are using the serial port, still plug in the usb port on the decoder to a extra serial port. If there is a power failure, the laptop will run the decoder threw the port. AMB no longer supports the usb driver for the decoder. The driver doesnt support 64 bit operation, and was hit and miss in 32 bit operation.

One other thing, make sure you pick a usb port you will use all the time. If you switch usb ports, it will install the software again. How it works is by emulation. If usb port 1 is being used by the software and emulating the port as a serial port, then you switch ports, then it needs to emulate the new port. Just stay with the same port all the time. I just found it to be a hassle to switch.

The scoring software has to support the decoders USB protocol to work.

True that MyLaps didn't update the drivers to 64 bit. With the scoring software I use the USB (RC2) worked prefectly in 32 bit! Power and data with one cable! The TCPIP with the RC3/4 works great as well but you don't have the power advantage of the RC2/USB. And again the scoring software has to support the TCPIP protocol as well or you back to the old time serial port and USB adapter!

Thats great you got the usb driver to work with your software.

Most of the software that is available now uses ethernet port for connectivity. I spent some time looking at other software manufactuer's outside the U.S. They are way ahead of the curve compaired to U.S. companies and how they put the race information online or local intranet. Its amazing what some of these clubs are doing. Unfortunatley, I havent seen a "club" here in the U.S. that compares to size of other countries. 300+ active members, all paying yearly dues and pay to race weekly.. They have a great budget to stay on top of the technology!! Here in the U.S. people get mad at paying 10$ just to race, then they dont want to marshal cause they paid 10 bucks.... LOL

When I got rc scoring pro put on a Windows 8 system, I had to buy a new rs232 cable because the other one wasn't compatible to win8.
