tamiya m chassis class

If we really wanted to make a fun class, we could have a handicapping system. Not sure how it would work. I say lead on the roof.
But when we used to have Quake 3 LAN parties, we'd set-up handicapping. Then the beginner players could compete with the experienced players. As they got better, we'd reduce the handicap. It was funner for everybody as it's not much fun for experts to repeatedly beat up on the newbs.
As in any "lower powered/speed" classes, small power/speed differences are magnified, especially when experts are driving in those classes.

Like nine of us did?

I don't know. I remember the old days in "Stock 27T". Literally some cars were twice as fast as others due to motor building skills.
As a beginner class that we are trying to build (I assume) we might not want to be so exclusive. There are a few "Mini" type vehicles that fit the spirit of the class. A 1/12 foam pan car does not fit the spirit of the class.
Maybe I'm not clear on what the intent of the Mini class is? We all know that no two motors are the same, batteries vary, better servos are, well, better.
Should it be a cost limited beginner class? I don't know.

It's one thing for someone to want to run in a "similar" class when they already own the car - I get that. Caesar purchased this car after eveyone else did.
Is Caesar a beginner? He deliberately bought a chassis different than everyone else with the sole purpose of obtaining an advantage. That chassis is a double decker, 4WD sedan chassis. Not remotely simlar to the Mini's.
Beginners mistake to run a 17.5 for weeks on end in a 21.5 F1 class with people asking why his car is so much faster than everyone elses?
Clearly the intent was to run as "spec" as is reasonable M-Chassis class.

There is always a push for a 'drivers' class where chassis are equal, but no matter what the class, the fast guys are still going to win.
I know that the only way I can win is to make my car handle better than everyone else's or find some speed secrets that no one else knows. I'm ok with that, but I'm not going to buy the chassis/motor/battery of the week just to race.
We could be racing tamya grasshoppers, tim would still be the fastest, Stan would have all the hopups, ceaser would run a 540 motor, and I would still be 1/2sec off...
I bought an F1 because it was the most popular class, everyone jumped ship to mini's, now there's talk of moving to sedans... I've seen this happen before. It's good fun until people start running out of $$ and stop showing up.
The class may change, the finish order doesn't...
@ceaser
Why would you even think that would be allowed??

Stan - If you only knew!!!
I was pissed and am still pissed - Not only did he go against the "spirit of the class" in my mind but he was running a $250 esc, an Orca or something I had never heard of and a Trinty D3.5 21.5 turnmotor with a different end bell ??
I asked him why he bought an ABC car to run in the Mini class - he said his car was only $150 - implying it was cheaper?? but his ESC was $250??
I am sure all who were present could tell I did not approve -- not to mention the very defensive attitude Cesar had about the subject.
We all know exactly why he bought a none spec car - he apparently needs to win badly enough that he feels it necessary to push the line of cheating - I feel he has crossed that line!!!
Stan - Bring that 1/12th scale, I'll drop a Mini body on it and I should be good to go -- Right?? The group needs to determine the class guidelines and enforce them. Why should we allow Cesar to wreck our fun?? We shouldn't!!!

John, I'm happy to have penalties added to the winner. What should they be?

Do you guys know why they outlawed the M04? Because it was able to take a 21 tooth pinion vs 20 for the others. So why should we allow a chassis that can be geared even taller?
Let's leave the mini class as spec as possible. For those that wants to run different chassis let's go back to sedan. I should be ready to play again. My sedan is on it's way here. Mod, Stock, 13.5 or smoking motors I will be ready soon.
