Default Losi 8ight E 2.0 Electronics Help

I just bought the Losi 8ight e 2.0 buggy and it is being shipped now. All that's left to do is get the electronics. I've never installed electronics on a roller and have only had RTR's up until this.

According to sites I need the following to complete the buggy:

Radio w/Receiver
Servo w/150oz of torque or more
Motor (maximum length 70mm or 2.75 inches)
ESC
Battery

I just need some help on figuring out which electronics would be best without going to overboard but trying to keep dependable brands for each.

-For the radio and receiver I'm not sure but I would like to still use my TQi transmitter if I could but not sure if any receivers beside Traxxas ones are compatible.
-Looking into Hitec servos but not sure which one would be ideal.
-Tekin and Castle seem to be widely used but expensive. I wouldn't mind getting either but are there any cheap ones? I already have a Mamba Monster in my Revo and haven't had issues.
-Will probably be getting a 4s Lipo but I guess the motor and Esc depend on the specs of it. My guess is maybe 4s 5500mah 30-50c something like that....

Hopefully I can get everything from the same online store like amainhobbies or towerhobbies even if it maybe cheaper elsewhere. I'm not going to be racing competitively or too much for that matter but still would like a good running buggy.

Thanks

You bought a great buggy, don't go too cheap out on electronics.

You can use your TQI transmitter if you really want to, but I highly suggest looking into a different radio system . Something like the spektrum DX3c would be a huge upgrade and it is not very expensive.

Savox servo's are the best bang for the buck out there. A 1256tg or 1258tg would be a good compromise of performance and price.

For ESC's, I would use a XERUN 80a or 120a depending on motor. These are under a hundred bucks and are some of the best 1/8 esc's out there.

Motor wise, I do suggest running Tekin if you are going to be doing any racing. Very smooth and powerful. Th3 1900kv or 2050kv buggy cans will work perfect with 4s batts.

Radio: Futaba 4PL

ESC: HobbyWing Xerun SCT-Pro

Motor: Turnigy TrackStar 1/8th Sensored Brushless Motor 1900KV from HobbyKing

Servo: Hitec 7955

Battery: GensAce 4s 5000mah pack from HobbyPartz

I was looking into the Spektrum transmitters and receiver which might not be a bad idea to get

As for the servo's does it have to be titanium gear ones? I've looked at just the metal gear versions and most have over 150oz of torque instead of say 300 like the titanium counterparts. Also I've seen people with separate Bec's which I wouldn't like to get. The esc can provide enough power to servo can it not?

For motors/esc a combo package from the same company may make it easier and dependable I think. I'm not racing but I have a MM already so Tekin might not be a bad idea for something different. Tekin motor says the size is 71 mm and the max that it says for the Losi chassis is 70mm.

Radio w/Receiver: Spektrum DX3R Pro or a high end Futaba setup. Personal preference here.
Servo w/150oz of torque or more: Hitec 7955
Motor (maximum length 70mm or 2.75 inches): Tekin T8 1900KV
ESC: Tekin RX8
Battery: SMC 4S Packs

Gear it 15/45

My exact setup. The motor can be geared for any track, and the servo is amazing quality.

I know many of you use your buggies competitively but I highly doubt that I will be racing with mine so I don't need the absolute best of everything. I'm looking just to make sure that everything WILL for sure work with the 8ight.

Also for the motor combos, Tekin involves a lot of soldering which I would like to stay away from if I could. I know there will be some but I'm thinking it might be worthwhile waiting for the Mamba Monster 2 to add that extra level of protection but then that leaves possibly getting a waterproof servo and receiver.

I still have a good long while until spring but I'm going to be thinking on this until then unless a choice is clear. Any more suggestions? Feel free to ellaborate on the electronics I mentioned.

So is it a safe bet getting these things for the buggy:

-Spektrum Dx3s transmitter with telemetry
-Mamba Monster 2 Esc w/ 2200kv Motor Combo
-Savox SC-1256TG High torque servo (277oz torque .15 speed at 6 volts)

I will decide on the battery and connectors later on as getting Lipos in Canada for cheap is proving difficult. Still have to check with my local hobby shop for some things as well.

Looks like good choices. If the MM motor kv ratings are same as all others, I would definitely consider one closer to 1900kv (more than enough power, even for larger tacks). With the Savox servo you may need to use a Receiver capacitor, to mitigate interuptions with mild servo power loss.
