Figured I'd share this with the 17.5 SC people here...
I think I figured out how to consistently take the triple in 17.5 SC. I went back and analyzed the video I took of last Saturday's qualifying run, and looked at what happened when I cleared the triple and when I didn't clear the triple. Here is what I think what's going on (need to test it this Saturday, though):
Similar to 17.5 buggy, you have to start at the berm to get a good run up to the first jump, but don't go full throttle until you're going up the jump. This will lift the front up a bit more going off the jump and will give you a little more air. The problem is that, unlike in buggies, with SC, if you keep this angle (front up, back down), the truck will parachute and you'll slow down enough to not clear the triple. What it looks like you need to do then is tap the brakes to pull the front end down, when the truck is at maximum air (right around the second jump). This does two things. First, it stops the parachuting (you'll still have air resistance, but the air is going over the body rather than under/up through it) so you maintain more momentum mid-air, therefore going farther. Second, with the nose level or pointing down slightly, the first contact point upon landing will be further forward, meaning you stand a better shot of clearing the apex of the third jump. Seems pretty obvious when you articulate it. Anyway, I welcome other 17.5 SC people to try this out on Wednesday (I don't go on Wednesdays).

That's pretty stalkerish actually. Is that from John's retirement party 3 years ago? I'm going to do what I always do Joe, and that's bust his ass. Lol
