It's not really critical. I just grabbed a small drill bit and put a couple of holes towards the center of the rim.

I just thought of one more thing as I'm getting the car ready. What is a good ride height to start out at on the Plex carpet track? Are the F104 V2 kit settings a good start or should I change them before coming to the track?

But set it up at the book shows that will be a good start. I would start with the from chamber at the 2.0 setting i think the book shows 1.5. Any questions pm me anytime.

All ready to go! Is the next night of racing Jan 9th? Btw, Iused the smaller 93t spur. With the stock 23t pinion, it still sounds undergeared. What pinion do most others run with the smaller spur?

Here is the F104v2 setup used by one of the top teams in the UF1 winter carpet series at TQ racing in Cal.

Nice paint job! I really like the way you've gone the extra mile in detailing the body lines in black.

The stock 93t spur and 23t pinion gives a Final Drive Ratio of 4.04:1. This is too high for a 21.5t brushless motor and ESC in "blinky" mode. I run 2.52:1 on an open outside asphalt track with a 40m straight. On a tight indoor track I might suggest 3.0:1 as a good starting point (keeping an eye on motor temps). Others at your track will be able to provide a closer number. You can use a larger pinion to start with but to get down that low you will need to buy a smaller spur gear.

On an unrelated note we've just completed this F1 video to get the juices flowing for 2013:

I'm running a 39t pinion and an 86t spur. Not sure what the others are running. There were only 5 of us last night which is pretty unusual.

Love the F1 video!

I'm definitely going to be there next Wednesday. After that initial run I'm planning to race F1 fairly regularly. Will look forward to talking more with you then.

Unfortunately I'll miss the next 2 weeks because of work. But I look forward to seeing you again, it's been a long time.

Is a tamiya silver can legal?? I'm trying to tame my car down a bit and was thinking of either a silver can or just tossing in a 25.5

If you want make it a bit slower, use the EXPO and/or the EPA on the throttle.

I'm working on a pit timer to automate our pit stops. Once its complete the most we would have to do is record who makes a stop just to make sure everyone makes a stop. I pretty much have it figured out now... just need to collect the parts and build a box to put it in. Hopefully it turns out as cool as it looks in my head!

Thumbs up 2013 Summer Point Series

Here are the preliminary dates for our Summer UF1/USVTA series!!

May 19th - 'PLEX
June 23rd - MRO
July 21st - MRO
August 25th - 'PLEX
September 22nd - MRO
October 6th - 'PLEX
*Locations may be switched in case of weather

Daily schedule will look like this:
Doors open @ 10AM
Practice & Sign-ups @ 11AM-12:45PM
Qualifying @ 1PM
Racing @ 2PM

For qualifying, we'll run an open session for each class of 15-20 minutes, depending on car count. The average of your fastest five laps will be your qualifying time. Two point will be awarded for the TQ.

Three round of mains will be run for each class.

F1 will run 15 minute races with two mandatory pit stops. Pit stops can be anytime after the first lap and before the ten minute mark. Pit stops will not be permitted in the last five minutes of each race.

Trans Am will run 10 minute races with one mandatory pit stop. Pit stops cannot be made during the first or last minute of the race.

Point will be awarded using our Wednesday night system. 1st-50, 2nd-45, 3rd-42, 4th-40 and decrease one point for each position after 4th. With six race days and three rounds each day, that will be 18 rounds of racing. You'll be able to drop your four lowest rounds for a best 14 of 18 total. We'll also award 10 points to any driver who competes in all six races.

Any drivers wanting to form teams for a constructors championship, please let me know. If there is interest from enough teams, we'll have an award at the end of the series. The teams would be two primary drivers and a "test" driver that could race in place of one of the primary drivers if they were unable to attend one of the races. Both cars must run the same livery but do not have to be the same chassis.

We'll follow the UF1 & USVTA rules here,UF1 Rules,USVTA Rules. The only exceptions will be our 5.0 FDR rule and the driver figure, although strongly recommended, is not required for Trans Am. Any questions on rules, please post here or PM.

We've got a bit more than two months before the first race so everyone should be able to get the schedule worked out and get thing ready for a great summer season of racing!!!!
