No, the oring that you have sitting on top of the threaded collars supposed to go inside the threaded collar. There is a groove that it sits in to prevent the collar from moving while driving.
EDIT: solved

Just to be clear, what is the issue we are trying to solve on your buggy? I read that when your turning on power it just pushes?! Was there more to it?
I'm suspecting its due to the play that is coming from the ball turnbuckles as Waflet said about how the outer is locked but the inner wheel is wobbly.
When I drive, it just feels like my front wheels aren't as planted and I tend to go wayy to wide on turns and end up off the track >_>
What springs are you running? right tires for the track? make sure both steering links are the same length and adjust toe with both tie rods evenly.. aside from that, a little play from the inside wheel isn't a big deal and isn't your problem. Driving style with a 2wd buggy is much different than 4wd cars, it's more point and shoot.. watch other drivers and notice how slow and precise they make corners. It's actually faster that way even if it doesn't feel like it while driving
Basically when I am doing a full lock turn and throttle through my turns, I tend to go wide unless I let go of the throttle.

Try this
advance timing to 40 degree
use 81/22 pinion
reduce EPA on Transmitter from 100% to 90% ..
install Triad
These changes will be smoother than a 8.5

why is it there??
