Engine Question
#1
If I break in my traxxas .15 engine in during the winter when theres no snow, will I have to replace it with a new .15 engine when it becomes spring time and the temps start to rise? Or will all I need to do is to just re-tune gradually as it starts to warm up? I am 99.9% sure I am going to break my nitro sport in the day or 2 days after christmas; and I don't want to have to replace the engine in the spring time

If you break it in right and take care of it there is no reason you should have to replace it before spring unless you just run and run and run and run..as far as tuning, yes you will have to retune daily because of differing air conditions from day to day.

If I run at most 2-3 tanks a day not even, would that be excessive?

Heat it up before starting each time and maybe wrap the head partially with a sock and it will help it last longer. Worst case you may need to send it to have the sleeve resized, only $15.00.

no...that is not excessive at all. your actually just running it long enough to get it tuned and warmed up in my opinion. But like said heating it before starting will help it last as well. I have a REVO Platinum, with a 3.3 in it all I have done is changed the bearings and the piston, rod, and sleeve has 6 gallons on it. and it is still running. Not to say it won't blow the next time I start it but at this time it is still huffin along. It's all in how you break it in and treat it. But remember running it to rich/fat/cool...is just as bad as running it to lean/hot.
