never held a 4pl, but owned a 3pks and 2pl, held many 4pks ect. having done some laps with a spectrum i can tell you there is no comparing the quality and feel of the two. my 2pl though ancient now felt a lot better than the spectrum.

overall reliability of futaba was very high too. with my fasst 3pks i never had a runaway or lost signal. just absolutely, not even entering my mind reliable.

futaba does have more expensive rx's than spectrum, but if your dropping a $10 clone into a $500 rc car, you kinda deserve what you get lol.

for that difference in price, there is no question to me the 4pl is the one you should get.
in the same price range is airtronics mx3x. very simple radio compared to the 4pl but very fast if your a racer.

id say if your not looking for a high end radio, the Futaba 4pl and airtronics mt4 are probably the best radios at their price range. I have owned a mt4 and i can tell you its FRICKEN FANTASTIC.

There's a reason they have those spektrum's so cheap right now. They are complete CRAP!! I used my friends for a few minutes and it had the worst feel i've ever experienced in any radio. It just felt so cheap and the ergonomics were designed for another species. I love my futaba 4pl and it is the best bang for your buck radio out there. Only buy the spektrum if you're running out of firewood this winter.

Nope, $ 149 is the going store price for the DX3S. I disagree about the cheap feel because the Futaba feels about the same as my DX3R without the drop wheel. However, the DX3R is a different size shape than the DX3S.

I had a DX3S and went to a DX3R. I never seen a futaba 4pl, but from what I've read about it it's a much better radio than the spektrum. The only spektrum I would recommend would be the DX3R.

Man ditch the Speckum ive owned Speckum radios and now i run a Airtronics MX-3X omg it does have a fast reaction like it say it just reacts to movements faster. Its build with good quality and has a good amount of good features for $170 !

The steering wheel is small though but a JR wheel will fit on it . The only downside is theres no adjustment on the wheel to tighten up the wheel but like it is it feels good .

I've had several Spektrum radios over the years (including a few 3xs.).

Hands down the Futaba 4PL is a way better radio. Solid build quality, easy to navigate menus and superior signal strength and reaction speed.
