Questions?? Transponder issues

I am having AMB transponder issues in only my new 22 SCT. I am having issues with lap counting (misses) with both of my AMBrc PT transponders. I have tried several locations, even out on the nerf bars. The track I am having issue with is an indoor carpet offroad with the loop under the carpet. Track has sensitivity turned down to avoid over-counting on adjacent part of track.

The transponders work great in my 22 Buggy and SC10. I think it may have to do with the Al chassis, ride height and proximity to other electronics in the 22 SCT.

Locations tried: nerf bars, on top of servo, front bumper, on chassis, on chassis with 2 layers of servo tape, adding glitch buster, etc...

Any ideas? I heard the MyLaps or the MRT transponder may be more powerful?

I have a MRT, and it is in the nose of my 22T, right under the front shock tower. Works perfect, no issues. Make sure it is lying flat, otherwise the signal is reduced.

Maybe it's more of an issue with the electronics package in the 22sct versus the buggy & sc10. What are you running for esc/servo/receiver?

Good point...

22B - Tekin RS, Tekin Redline 13.5, Futaba 603FF Rx, Solar D771 servo
22SCT - Tekin RS, Fantom Ion2 10.5, Futaba 603FS Rx, *HK 4701DMG servo
SC10 - Tekin RS, Fantom Ion3 17.5, Futaba 603FS Rx, Hitec 7955 servo

*The HK has been used in other applications without issue, but myself and friends have experienced brown-out issues with this servo in the past especially after a hard turn. The loop is immediately after a hard left at the end of a straight. So maybe a servo change is my first step?

I would say a servo change would be a good first step in diagnosing the problem. The other option would be to add a castle bec to that truck if you didn't want to swap out the servo. We've added caps in the past but didn't completely solve our problem until we added the bec.

With your SCT on the bench and the body off, try steering it really fast back and forth and see if the light on the transponder flickers.

Ok, thanks for all the helpful replies. So the general consensus is:

1. Check endpoints on steering to avoid undue bind on servo
2. Ordering an inline cap from fix218 to power transponder and/or servo
3. Possibly replace servo

Did you try ttppll's method? He's correct, if you flick the steering back and forth real quick and the transponder light flickers at all then your problem is caused by higher amp draw than what the internal bec can provide. Your options at that point are a cap, external bec, or switch to a different brand servo.
