RC10B4.1 FT/WC
is there an upper retainer from AE that will work for those of use doing the bb spring? I want to convert another car car to BB and with the new AE lowers, all I would need it an AE upper. I know the traxxas upper will work...just asking.

Assembled AE Big Bore shocks tonight with the clear Kyosho X rings(Part number ORG03X), and they sucked air past the X rings as i bled them(before even putting on the caps). The X rings are too big in the center, and the shock shafts are slightly smaller than the V2 shafts. I do not recommend trying them as wasting your money, they felt smooth but did not seal against the shaft very well at all and would suck air past them with any side loading of the shaft. I put on the AE O rings and they bled perfectly, and i could not get them to pull air past the seals no matter how hard i tried. Also i've heard good things about the losi O rings, so i use either brand(losi and AE look identical). Hope this helps someone
Losi o-rings won't work....I tried and their to big in both dimensions. AE BB shafts are 3mm while Losi shafts are 3.5mm. I don't think AE shocks build as nice as Losi shocks but their not bad either. It would help alot if they had a better fitting bushing to support the shaft though.
These ones:

I also bought the losi 22 shock piston and bushing set, should have tried their center bushing to see if they fit any better.. but i already built em. The AE BB's do have sloppy bushings..eh well.
Pistons i'm referring to:

Kyosho X rings that DON'T work(too big and leak/pull air):

The problem with the factory o-rings isn't that oil seeps past them the problem is they let air into the body creating rebound you do not want. As long as you top off and re-bleed the shocks every few runs its not an issue.

Dont waiste your time with the tlr bushings, for one they are over sized for their 3.5mm shafts so dont see hoe they can help our shocks.
Those running a 13.5 motor what gearing are you running stock blinky mode as well as what gearing with boost/turbo added (bonus if anyone is running a tekin setup what settings are you running on your esc), thanks in advance.......
I am running 30/72 blinky with my BH Ian. I run at 125 deg on the motor and 95 deg on the esc.
The stock O-rings do just fine, and these shocks perform even better with O-rings that have been in the car for atlest a weeks worth of running to give the O-rings a chance to swell.
