Im on a tight buget but dont want to buy crap, what have you guys had good luck with? I race every other weekend with my 2 kids. between my shortcourse, my sons slash and my buggy in open and my daughter running it in novice my charger has been getting a workout. Its an older hyperion ac/dc 6061 i think. It has worked great untill yesterday. If I charge at anything over 2 amps it shuts off at 8.1v. I would really prefer something with ac plug in if possible. What are my options? thanks.

Do you want to charge multiple packs at a time? If you do, take a look a the Hitech X2/X4 line. Pricy but worth it. Otherwise, take a look at the Duratrax Onyx 235 for a charger that offers good value for the money. If you can do without a digital display, you could save a few bucks with the Reedy 526 even. For real value, Associated is clearing out these LRP ones at a fantastic price but be warned that not all balance plugs will work with the included board and you may have to buy a different balance board for @$20 if yours don't. If you can do without a warranty or return policy, you can check the Chinese websites with "Hobby" in their names for something even cheaper.

I have a SkyRC x2/400w charger (basically the hitec x2/400w charger) and its been great thus far. Fast charging and it will do up to 20a a side and they are usually on sale for like $130.
The other option is something like the passport ultra that will do 8a but only 1 battery at a time. Runs about the same as the x2 but is AC/DC
