I'm looking for some good honest points and opinions of these engines head to head, they are so close in price. I have really good luck with Werks motors but thought I would try a Reedy 121VR. My experiences with Werks im getting 8 gallons and it's pretty much done, but I have always got good run times 9+ minutes. What kind of run time with the 121VR's with a 2035 pipe?

My friend has both. He ran the Reedy last night, and said it will be his backup motor. I don't think he has enough time on it yet to really make that decision. For 1 he's running the new 3 shoe M2C clutch on it. I would love to see it with a different clutch. Maybe a Buku or the Werks clutch which he has on his B6. Right now he's losing quite a bit on the top end compared to the B6.

Run time we never really got to touch on last night. Judging by the amount of fuel he had left at the end of a 5 minute qual I would have to say it's not going to make 10 minutes. At the Fear Farm I'm making 10 minutes with my eyes closed with my B6 Pro, and I'm quite a bit faster than him. Our track is not a easy track to get 10 on so it's safe to say that the B6 is excellent on fuel.

I have 6 gallons on my pro right now, and from the looks of it she has quite a bit more left in her. Fresh one waiting to go in as soon as this one has had enough. I'm a bit old fashioned so I don't like change if something is working for me.

All feedback I have seen on the Reddy is that it's a great engine but lacks in the runtime department.

I have both. My reedy needs a conrod after 2 gallons. Selling it for parts now. But my reedy got alot netter milage than my werks. The werks has more power on low and mid than the reedy. The reedy was alittle smoother. The werks lasts alittle longer. So they are pretty much a good comparison.

Last season I had the 121 and I loved it so easy to tune and held it quite well. This seaso. I'm running the werks b5 time line now, I love it but not as user friendly as the 121 but once you find the it's spot (perfect tune) it's ridiculous!!! I broke it in with a pro friend of mine and since then no problems. So I'm torn n between in this post lol!!

Good choice. I have both engines as well. The werks has a little more power but the reedy is very easy to tune.

I've got both motors myself. I've had several Werks and 1, I repeat, 1 Reedy 121VR. The Werks wins with gas mileage and RPM, Reedy wins with bottom, ease of tuning, reliability, and longevity. Running the Reedy with a 2058 pipe is a beast! The recommended pipe for the Reedy (2039) gives great bottom but very little top end. Running it with the 2058 was suprisingly impressive. Most of the guys at the track thought I had a modified motor. Run time just short of 10 minutes but you'll certainly be impressed with the ease of tune and consistancy of the Reedy. Good luck!!!

I was getting 10 min with my B5 with P3 plug/2058/ Werks 30% fuel I was really pleased with the Werks motors and even signed a deal with them last year. But I was only getting 6-8 gallons out of them. Before the Werks motors I ran the older RB motors like the S7 and WS7 and got 10+ gallons out of them but didn't like the run time 7-8 minutes. I'm really hoping I can get 10 min out of the Reedy motor and 10 gallons.
I have heard that the Reedy motors like to run hot like 260+ this true? My Werks motors ran during the Texas summers at 220-230.

Are you looking at the newest Reedy 121VR? I have the original and have about 12 gallons thru her now. I run in Houston and it usually runs around 240-260. With the humidity @ 94% I was getting right @ 10 minutes but didn't want to push it. I've run it with the 2039, 2035, 053, & 2058. The 2035 & 39 were great on bottom but really lacked top end. The 053 was great on top, but very light on bottom. The 2058 was awsome all around. I havn't tried the 2057 yet but it may yield a little more run time.

A good friend of mine runs the Reedy 121VR-ST.
He has about 10 gallons on it and it runs great. He gets 10 minutes out of it easily. The motor has the strongest bottom end of any motor I've ever touched, it's insane. He's had to restrict it to make it controllable.

The motor also has the best mill work I've ever seen. When you get it, look at how clean the fins are cut into the case.
Also note that the bottom end needle uses a finer thread pitch than most engines. That allows you to make more precise adjustments and you also have to turn it more to make small adjustments. A 1 hour turn isn't noticeable.

Yes I'm using the newest Reedy VR-ST.. And I really like how the carb bolts to the case with a gasket instead of an o-ring and pinch bolt style.. The quality of this engine is pretty amazing compared to others I have bought, can't wait to get this broke in..!!
