I remember a 540 powered 2WD buggy being clocked at about 35 km/h at the '98 NSW States. Modified was close to 60 km/h, but the straight was a bit shorter than it is now.

Yeah, but a 3.5T motor, and velo gears aren't race legal.

back in early 90's had my gold tub RC10 clocked at 64kmh on a police radar gun. Brushed motor and 1200 nicad SCR pack, forget what the pinion and spur was now, but motor was a Reedy Red Dot

I have managed to get my Hobbyking Baja 1/5th scale buggy up to 106km/h at a local 250m Velodrome.

Here is a video someone else took.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RzBsrtJefzw&feature=plcp

It's got the Castle Creations Baja conversion kit in it and with a smaller spur and bigger pinion.

It gets real skaty at speed and eventually the rear tyre insert has blown through the tyre, need to find some stiffer stronger inserts or maybe tape them up with gaffer tape.

A lot of fun though, on the data logger I have seen over 6kw of power.

Also there have been 2 minis clocked at or just over 100km/h, the first was at 100km/h and the second was at 101km/h.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cc4dCnR3coA&feature=plcp

No video of the 101km.h though.

Dont know but running on 60d tyres would have to get it closer to 45km/p I suppose?

mini was running on sweep 40's.. motor was as per signature.. pinion unknown was in there when purchased..
carried out test because i was curious thats all.. i thought the sct was faster but it turns out it wasn't.. it accelerates up to full speed quicker than the mini...
all i can say is hats off to controlling a M03 at 100kph... My M05 or should i say my controlling would be all over the place...
and as i said in the test was with my gps, not a very acurate device, but a rough guide..
