Average day with the car today. I picked up some plant matter during an off track excursion and chewed up both belts and the alloy center pulleys. Amazing how quick you can do this major repair under the pump

I'm wondering peoples opinion on running belts loose or tight with modified motors.

I always run tight front/loose rear belts regardless of motor!

ran my car last weekend with the front diff with diff lock and the car pushed in the sweeper so this week I put 300,000 in the the diff and the car is so smooth in the turns and didn't push at all. I could ease the throttle all the way though the sweeper. lovin my 411 more and more each weekend.

I run mod and I run my rear belt one notch loose from center and haven't had any problem. by the way where did you get the alloy center pully?

I got mines from Walter Rc but im in australia. Any good serpent dealer should be able to get these. There are a waste of money IMOand i will not be purchasing them again.

for Mod , you want to run these. if you like DNF then go for the plastic ones. the pins hammer the plastic, and there is no real re-enforcement in the plastic surrounding the pin locator. after a few runs, especially if you are a hard braker, your car will do funny things. the alloy pullies are worth running in Mod. one less problem to look for or worry about.

Hi.

We are running modified, and we have the alloy pulleys built in right from the start - almost one year ago. We are still running the first pulleys, and they are still in good conditions - only a scratch from a little stone, when driven outside. We installed the alloy pulleys, as we had bad memories with plastic pulleys and gear diff. in our older car (Tamiya 416X). Several DNF because of pulleys melted down.

A little tip. When you install the alloy pulleys, put in a tiny(!!) ball of cleaning gum, where the pin are seated. Then you have no noise (like tic-tic-tic), as the pin now are seated well.
