I received my new rc8.2e kit today...nothing like waking up to your front doorbell ringing & dogs going crazy & having a new kit sitting on your door step.
I also checked to see if the new updated upper & lower front arms were included & they were...woohoo!

A lot of people feel that way, but until the rules change anything abiding by ROAR or RCPro rules, whether it fits dimensions or not, 1/8 conversions are not allowed.

What would make a 1/8th conversion that fits size requirements and uses SC tires, body, bumpers ect. different then the losi?
#2391
Buying a 1/8th scale buggy and putting SC wheels and bumpers on it isn't quite the same thing. The Losi is based on the 810 anyway, which isn't actually an 1/8th scale.
Regardless, it's all semantics. I personally could care less either way, but it is what it is.
If Associated took the 8.2, put bumpers, SC wheels and a body on it and boxed it up and sold it as a 1/10th SC truck it would be legal.

After 5 weeks of club racing on my new RC8.2 I've noticed the car started to drive a little different so it's time for a complete rebuild. After pulling the CVA's apart I was alarmed at how worn the Stub axles were I believe this was my major cause of corner exit push I was experiencing due to "dog bone lock/bind" while on power. Is this normal on the AE car for stub axles to wear fast? I'm thinking about replacing them with the stock steel stub axles from the old car.

You can buy the Losi in a box and it's advertised as a 1/10th kit.

From conversations with hundreds of drivers in the Midwest, Texas and California I have discovered I am not the only one who's favorite class is 1/8th Buggy and who wishes that there was a second similar class other than Truggy to run on race day. Especially since so many indoor tracks try to build layouts that cater to both 1/8th and 1/10th scales... Truggies just don't fit well on them (West Coast RC is a prime example).
Plus, the biggest complaint about 1/10th SC 4wd is durability... it takes so much time (and money) to maintain them. Building a SC based off the 1/8th platform solves that issue... and the added weight, all but eliminates the parachute effect when jumping (which was one of my biggest peeves).
I finished my 8.2e SC conversion today, and got a pack in on my driveway before nightfall. In all honesty... this thing is more than a little awesome. I started out in the hobby with an SC10 and quickly migrated out of the class, but in the first 10 seconds of driving today, I fell in love with SC all over again. Tomorrow night, I am hitting the track with it... and like a kid on Christmas eve I can hardly wait.
Perhaps with a little good fortune... ROAR, Team Associated and other manufacturers see what I see. While I enjoy my 1/0th scale cars... I LOVE my RC8.2e and now... my SC8.2e!!
