i used to run rpm cups. never had a problem and i was taking them off pretty often due to poor driving skills

I'm getting my Worlds tomorrow. Should I put RPMs on to start with or will the stock ball cups b ok to start with?

I have switched from Durango back to the B4.1. The parts quality of TD cars is awesome but the car didn't suit me and i couldnt keep pace like I did with the B4. One of the many things that was nice about the DEX210 was the ballcups and ballstuds. I'm going to use them on the B4 since they are beefier and scale wise, they look more proportional to the rest of the car. That is the designer part in me. One thing i wish i could use out of the 210 is the ball-diff, so flippin smooth.

I've never had any ae cups pop off,but I have sheared two in the rear but they were odd landings,I'm going to stick with the ae cups

another thing you can do to prevent wear... drill small holes in the top of the ballcup so you can just put in your wrench and have access to the studs. kinda like the durango cups

The only problem I've had w/ ae ball cups was when I sheared one in practice (I had the arm to far to one side so it didn't support the other properly) when I put the replacement on I was in a hurry, so I twisted it off the sprue. It popped almost immediately. Put it back on & it did it again. Threw that one in the trash & carefully cut the next one on sprue off. It made it through the rest of the practice, 3 qualifiers, & a 10 minute main that day & still hasn't popped off. I also drill my ball cups so I can change the link w/o popping the cup.

Moral of the story is use an exacto or something to cut the cup from the sprue, don't just rip it off or you run the risk of deforming the cup before you even put it on the car. I expect this would be true of ae, losi, Lunsford, or rpm.

the only issue i've had with the stock ballcups were on the rear camber links. i believe that there is not enough thread going into the cup which is what causes it to shear off on a bad landing. with that being said, i have not had any issues with the RPM cups

Great advice on ball cups guys. I've only had one stock one pop off on the rear of my first rtr buggy. I put rpm on it and haven't popped one since. But I was also relearning to drive again after 20 years off. I think I'll try the stock ones and keep a set of rpm's for backup. Great idea about drilling a small hole to keep from removing the cups. Gonna try that also

Doing it right the first time would be using Lunsford tie rods, that are a little longer that the stock ones, and AE cups.

R the FT turnbuckles not as strong as the Lunsford or is it just that they r longer?

The stock turnbuckles are fine if you break the FT turnbuckles you must be bashing. The RPM ball cups are all you need they are beefier as well.

Some guy at the track handed me a set of holeshots (kit tires) with no foams in them. I have a set of trinity blue foams from 4+ years ago NIP and some Losi stock foams I can use. The track is good for holeshots by the main because the water comes up in the clay. Giving us pretty solid traction. So what do you think trinity blue or losi stock foams?

which rear hub is better for must tracks .0 0r .5 ?
