Default Gens Ace Balancing question

I've searched both the forum and Google and didn't find any real anwsers, so here is my deal.

I bought 3 GensAce 5000Mah 40C 2S indirect packs. I also got the balancing plug in cable to be able to balance them. The first thing I found was + and - was backwards of all my other packs. So that was an easy swap, no biggie. But here is the real issue, when I balance charge these 3 packs, it will take anywhere from 90-??? minutes to charge and balance. Sometimes it hits my chargers 120 minute lock out and never does finish the balance charge. If they do finish the cells are both at 3.81V in all three packs, so it seems to me that it isnt a cell problem. But I also have a few Skylipos and a Turnigy, that all balance fine on my charger, so it would seem that it isnt a charger issue either.

Is this normal with the Gens Ace packs?

Do you have any other ideas?

Thanks,
Tom

My charge rate is 5 and it takes about an hour to charge my gens ace 5000. Should be 4.2 for each cell when they are full.

Interesting. I have one of these packs and the longest charge time I have ever seen was about 90 due to the fact I ran it all the way down in my SCTE. However after a 6 minute heat the charge time is anywhere from 25 to 35 minutes. How many amps are you charging at. I am at 5 amps.

It makes it sound like they have bad cells. What charger are you using?

Bad solder joints in the packs maybe? You could always try borrowing someone else balance plug because what ever the issue is you are using it on all 3 packs. Do you use the same balance plug on the batteries that charge ok?

Charging at 5 amps. I have tried other plugs, with the same results. But If I run the packs down to almost cut-off on the ESC's (I run mostly Mamba Max Pros with the lipo cut-off at 3.6v) they will recharge in about 30-35 minutes. I also noticed last night, the closer to lipo cut-off I run them the quicker they will balance.

3.8V/cell is way too low for a charged pack; it sounds as if your charger is stuck in storage charge mode.
