K2RC is trying to answer all of your questions but everytime he tries to post from a brand new account he is told it needs moderator approval for some reason. His last post was made about 3 hours ago and it still hasn't shown up. Not sure why his account is giving issues like this. I have seen plenty of first time posts for sure here. As soon as rctech figures out why the k2rc account cant post without approval I am sure you will get all of your questions answered.

Here the deal on the 808E. The 808E is based from the 2010 drivetrain. The 2010 drivetrain was not XRay's best idea since it used the conical pinions which, as some of you may know, can be kinda problematic. Not for everybody and maybe not for the sct but they have been known to have issues in the past. The other issue with the 808E is that it uses 808E only parts. Motor mount, drive train parts, center dog bones, etc. It is basically not a good platform for either 1/8 e buggy or the sct conversion. You can use some of the parts from the 808E and they will work but they were untested in the prototyping due to the proprietary parts it needs.

As for pricing it is all coming soon to you guys. The last big race for the prototypes is The Dirt next week and K2RC is getting ready to leave out of here on Monday for the race. The moment he gets back, the plan is to hammer this thing out and get ordering started. He was already obligated to this event so he has to focus this one last thing before he seriosuly buckles down on the XSCT sales and information.

I will definitley make sure Wheelers setup is posted from the JConcepts race.

To my knowledge the truck will be offered as a kit as well. The idea (from our last meeting) was to offer the truck in several different ways.
You buy parts and use your donor vehicle.
You buy a full kit and build.
You buy a turn key package.
You send in your donor and we build a turn key from it for you.
Granted all of them have their cost differences but there should be an option there that works for most people.

Using a donor may be a 'longer' route but it is the best route money wise. There really isn't much difference in buying a kit and a donor or buying a full kit. Either way you will be doing tons less maintenance and parts replacement in the long run..

Good question. I'm wondering if these are molded arms or machined arms as well. I have to guess they will be machined. An injection mold would be pretty pricey
Arms will be machined from a 'different' material. They won't be green though.lol.. However they may be white so you can make them their own, so to speak. The CVD's aren't custom, only the arms. Ordering spares will not be a problem, however, you won't need many if any. We have broken one arm during a year of testing and that was a mistake on my part due to the way I machined that one particluar set of proto arms.

Did somebody miss the part about electronics and a pre-order release date of March 2012 in the O.P.? ........

I want one as bad as everyone else, but I did learn from a Hines Ketchup commercial long ago that good things come to those who wait! March is right around the corner boys, let's give these guys a break. I'm just glad to see someone finally making something I actually want! It's pretty genius actually.

In the beginning there weren't many options in Pro4 trucks. So thats when it was decided to design and build my own sct. As was stated in the opening post the original concept was to provide XRay team drivers with a kit that could be built into a legal sct. As time goes on I will be posting History of the XSCT pictures and descriptions. The truck has undergone several transformations. It has went from front motor, center motor, saddle packs, etc.. I plan to share all of that over time with you guys. It is important to me that the customer understands what went in to making the truck right.

Early width comparisons with the SCTE. The XSCT got narrower as time went on. We quicky found out the machining hubs to make it barely legal wasn't good enough as it limited out amount of adjustability. Camber, toe in, toe out, etc all had an affect on the overall width. What good is a truck you can't tune...

Thank you Wes for providing that detail. I was aware of the pinion issue but had completely forgotten about it on the 2010. Looks like I'll be grabbing a 2011 Spec.

Ill be keeping my eyes open for those dollar signs!

Per Wes, the eCar drivetrain is based off the 2010 therefore he did not recommend going that route due to pinion issues.
