Hi guys,
Im new to Nitro and was wondering about running this 2S lipo receiver pack. It charges to 8.4 and my airtronics receiver says 4.8-6.0 volts. Do I need to run a voltage regulator so I dont overpower the receiver???

i would say yes I know spektrum receivers can handle the extra voltage

Yes you will need a regulator if your reciever specs out 4.8 to 6.0. plug it in without one and you will smoke it.

What radio do you have? the recievers for the M11x can handle the higher voltage. i think the number is 92744, that is what i run

You are fine Jeff. I've been running unregulated Lipo with those RX's for 2 years as have lots of others. Just watch out for that screw coming through your radio box.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that was the problem but I started thinking about what else it could have been. THis is the only thing I came up with, other than maybe I lost the throttle servo (which is working fine now). It was all the way on the other side of the track so I'm not sure if the steering was intermittent as well as the throttle.

For those of you trying to figure out what I'm talking about, My 8ight suddenly stopped half way through the main this past saturday. The engine was still running but I had no control over the car (maybe intermittent bursts....cant really remember). When they brought the car over to me, everything was working fine again. I decided to shut it down and troubleshoot rather than risk a runaway. Upon further inspection, I found that I had installed a screw that was too long into the radio tray and it pierced my battery (my BRAND NEW BATTERY I might add) to the point where it was oozing fluid into the tray. I was lucky it didnt burn the car to the ground.

Anyways, the damaged battery still shows full voltage but I'm guessing it was shorting out during the race. Other theories include too high of voltage for the receiver, or a bad throttle servo (although I'm pretty sure the steering was intermittent too but without the car moving, it didnt matter at the time).

Hopefully it was the battery, as I will be receiving my new one tomorrow.

if you have the Airtronics 92451 or the Airtronics RX461 (92010)
and the 92744
then you can run with an Unregulated battery.........

i have seen about 20-25 Airtronics Receivers go from using "Un-Regulated"
Batteries......
i know there is a few they have run without one...and there "Lucky"
......."So Far".........
but Airtronics tells you not to use a Li-Po Receiver pack unless you have
one of the Receivers stated above.........

oh, a quick fix for the battery thing,....get a Piece of Lexan,cut it
to size of the part that is lower on the radio tray.....
then grind down a little of the part where the "Screw" comes in...
get a "Nut" that will fit the bolt....snug it down....then grind the bolt down
a little as it gets "Hot" the plastic will melt a little then tighten down a little more.....and get it somewhat "Flush".....(nut and Bolt)
then take some "Hot-Glue" put a few dabs in there to hold the Lexan
and a little over the bolt and you'll have sorta like a "Sub-Floor"
for lack of a better word...LOL
for your radio tray and wont have to worry bout the Bolt punching
into the battery.......
