For my castle sidewinder SCT which comes with a fan for the motor. i pull the acing off of the fan to use just the fan. I'm going to put on the ESC. but which direction do I want the fan to be? Either drawing air out of the ESC or pulling air into the ESC? what direction?

Its more efficient blowing down. If its blowing away from the esc its only really moving the hot air that's already dissipated by the heatsink. If its blowing on the heatsink it'll help cool it with the incoming air.

Idk, either way would probably work. I gave up on my sidewinder after it overheated and the thermal didnt trip. (yes I had the fan on it. But the fan blade broke and got jammed.) Sent it in along with $75 and my new mmp should be at my doorstep sometime this week.

They're basically, well not basically, they are a little box fan. Not even sure they still make them
anymore. You know the 2ft x 2ft fans about 6in deep...Turn it on and put your hand in front of the intake side, then on the outlet/blowing side, take a guess which side is moving more air.
esc fans are designed to push air not pull it. It has to do with blade shape and pitch.
IDK of any esc that comes with the fan NOT blowing on the heat sink
