Me too. Way easier to not screw up your paint that way.

So how hard is it to solder a motor and ESC? I just ordered the Tekin RX8/1900 combo but never have soldered anything.

Are there any tutorials you have seen that show how to solder correctly? Any videos on the subject?

Also, are these the kind of pinion I will need to use?

Those are the right pinions (Mod 1), you'll probably just want a 16t pinion.

Here's a how-to by Randy from Tekin.

Is the "standard" b-plate part# 89461? I'll be trying out the Low-B first but if I find out I don't like it, I'll try the standard plate as well.

Thanks for the link to that video. It will help tremendously.

A 19t pinion was recommended earlier in the thread. Is the 16t an absolute must or is this personal preference?

19t is huge for 1900kv. I'm running 20t with 1700kv for example.

So guys. I'm going to be picking up my kit tommorow.

Anything else I should get/order like spares or other important tuning things?

Might have to try that later. Already ordered 15/16/17 tooth pinions.

You need a small nut drive to tighten the nut down. I just took a small traxxas 4way wrench and put it in a drill. Then I spun it and sanded it with sandpaper to make the outside diameter smaller to fit in the shock cap.
