Don't know if this has already been posted, but I talked to Fred (Tamiya) and he said that cutting out the lip (arond the gear and in between the teeth) on the front pinion gear helps stop stripping the one way gear.
A while back my friend P2 posted running the rear gear up front (with some mods) helps also.
I think these two combined could be a great solution.
