The gearing seems to be the cause of this. Way too much gear for the motor. You have to gear the truck to the motor you are running. Usually the rustler came with either a 86 or 87 tooth spur gear not an 83. I would suggest starting out with an 18 or 19 tooth pinion with the 83 spur when using an 19T motor. Then after running a few minutes check the temp of the motor. More than 200 is bad frying the motor. Change the pinion gear accordingly. To hot go down in pinion size. Surfaces with more traction will make more heat in the motor. It is all about load on the motor and you have to gear accordingly. Team Checkpoints 19T Money motor is a good motor to consider. It will go more runs between comm cuts than other 19T motors.
