Servos do wear of course, but from my experience that wear is much bigger indoors than outdoors. In outdoor racing there is not much you can hit, while indoor on carpet there are all the barriers that an average drivers often touches. All that little damage acumulates in the servo. I have never had problems on outdoor tracks, while in 1:18 indoor carpet I have changed a lot of servos due to different problems.
