Well, if you're going to start racing seriously then do get it ... especially if you race with rubber tyres.
Some of the more experienced folks here (Pyramid, goldfinger, D ...) use a different tools I think ... its a sharp object they poke somewhere near the middle of each end and lift the end to see which tyres go up first.
If you race foams I think this is fine because usually by the third lap of any race one side of your tyres are wearing more anyways ... hence your car is actually "tweaked"!
