A good rule of thumb would be to run at least 2 gauges bigger wire for the battery as you would use for the motor because the battery carries all of the motor load and the motor wires share the load across the 3 phase wires. The current is pulsating per the phase output of the speedo thus the duration at which the wires carry the current is approximately 1/3rd than that of the battery wires which carry the sum of all 3 phase pulses. Since you are running blinky mode, you will want to deliver as much current as is demanded by the motor as efficiently as possible. Smaller gauge wire
will have an effect on "punch".
