i had the same problem about 6months ago. put rtv on the screw that locks the carb (not on the knot/bolt, on the other side). if that does not work, there maybe a leak elsewhere. hope this helps. 
Yeah, like I said, I've started the "leak search" already. I'm hoping that sealing the fuel inlet and carb/engine block connections will take care of this. If not, I'll try your suggestion.
Too bad this had to happen. It was running so well earlier this year. The suddenly about two weeks ago, poof, I'm putt-putting around with the throttle wide open but the engine is only going about 1/4 speed!
