You can use the rear pin and spacer set from the 4wd and use B4 wheels if you want. I've been doing this to use the 4wd rear buggy wheels.
Guys trust me the larger hexes are needed. I've stripped out wheels before at the 12mm size. Especially fronts on the 4wd on high bite tracks. Understand that this car is designed at the world level, not just U.S. If you've ever driven on turf the bite they get is phenomenal.
Also the larger hex should help prevent wobbling and offers a larger mating face to the wheel.
