They are. I had a bad CVA that came with my TC6 so I checked it with my TC5 spares and they were the same and just used it instead. The outdrives are almost the same as well. The only difference is acctualy that the short outdrive doesn't have the ring on it to stop the bearing. There is just about half an inch difference in where the bearing mounts on the short outdrive. The long outdrives are identical. I checked because I wanted to use the blue aluminum outdrives I had sitting around for the TC5
