Quite a few guys like the HobbyWing ESC's for boosted. I don't have any experience with them, but they are an option.

Why not just hold on to the kit until you can put the gear you want in it?

On a side note, I have an original Dominator sitting on a shelf, chain drive and all. I bet it would still get around the track well if there was a dirt oval near me.
