In the shop at my school we have some 6061 t6 aluminum round stock which wold be really easy to make the rims out of so I was planning on using that. I've neve worked with delran before but I suppose if I could get my hands on some it wouldn't be very hard to modify the g code for the softer material.

These rims will be machined so there is no way I could decrease the size of the area on the rim around the axle. In order for the hex to be strong enough to not strip out I would need to make at least a 2mm wall thickness around the hex so the inner hub diameter of the rim would be at least 16mm thick... Which would make it kinda heavy... I might have to just stick with pins. If I were to use pins I could even machine away the area on either side of the pin so the inner hub of the wheel would be an oval shape which would make them even lighter.

As for the sc rims... They sound like they're going to be even smaller so it might be kinda hard for the CNC machine to tool it... Smaller parts= smaller bits= easier to break bits... But if you can give me the tire dimensions I can always try and see how it works. Does the sc18 use the same stub axles as the 18t or 18r?

Thanks for the ideas
