It sounds like the upper plate for front kick plate assembly is stripped out. You can install longer screws in the place of the stock screws. Just make sure they are only about 1/8"-1/4" longer than what you have now. You can go longer with the screws in the back two than the front two. You can also take the top plate off, clean it and drop a few drops of thin super glue in the screw holes to help tighten things up. Just make sure that the glue dries fully before reassembling. You may need to retap the holes after adding the glue. The simplest fix is to replace the part.
