He can charge it up to 24 hours. He can start it using a flame thrower, but if the glowplug is no good, it won't stay on.
Once the engine is started, the glow plug carries on, no matter how hot it previously was or how "bright" you see it.
Don't waste his time by telling him to charge his igniter and not get a new glow plug.
