I agree rules should be followed however this is clearly a rule that has been made for a minority group and not perhaps for the good of the hobby.
Perhaps it some cases it can be allowed but only when approved by the moderator. The title could read “Advertisement” and a limited comment could be made and only posted in relevant threads for example onroad events within onroad threads only.
This is rational thinking for the good of RC in general.
my comments were never intended to harm, or offend people. it is very dissapointing that the use of the forum is for some , an avenue to guide people to their shops. yet a club can not post details where it can matter , to help have a successfull campaign to help boost numbers for a nationals event. no point going on about it, people have made their choice, and posts have been removed. Lars spamming was every single club thread, 2 of my clubs got hit, did i care ? no. would i have known of the event if i didnt see the post........... NO. so it made me aware of the event, and for that, i think its worth its weight in gold. many clubs are struggling for numbers for their events, i admit, Lars posts were of a larger scale, but i chose to read it and move on, not complain about it, as it was effective of what he was trying to do. it worked. that is someone/club, utilising all teh powers they have at one time, to help them have a successfull event. dont like it, dont read it, dont reply to it, and make it more on topic. thats enough about it, lets all move on.
