Anyone had a ESC catch on fire? My novak did on sat for no apparent reason. Ran maybe 2 min, truck flipped and i walked over and grabbed it, smelled hot electronics so i turned it off. Got to my bench and pulled the body off, everything looked normal. Turned it back on, took 2 seconds and poof blew up literally in my face. 6-8" flame shot out of the esc where the wires are. The cap melted off and the heat sink got so hot it melted down through the plastic it mounts on. Not very impressed for 239+ tax. Put my traxxas vxl setup back in and ill be sticking with that.
Im sure novak will take care of it, but still. That could of burned up the truck in a heart beat. Luckily the body was off, and my lipo was fine.
The novak esc's have been known to catch fire, I think it was an issue with their internal cap or something....... Trust me your def. not the first one and sad to say probably not the last one it'll happen to...... Good thing it didn't happen when you were away and in your garage like it did another user a few months back.......... Which is why I will never use novak items, I'll stick with tekin or speed passion etc.........
