These are my observation from racing this last weekend. I own both a Losi SCTE and a AE SC10 4X4. I practiced both trucks and ran faster laptimes during practice with the SC10 4X4, so I decided to run the SC10 4X4 in the first qualifier. At my track the mix of 4X4 SC truck is about 50% Losi and 50% AE. We start the first qualifier in alphabetical order by last name, no IFMAR so I'm about the middle of the pack. I was "bumped" 4 times by Losis the first lap and wound up in last at the end of the first lap. I'm not complaining, thats just how it is in SC racing. You give a little and you get a little. Here's my observation. My AE always got the worst of it I assume becasue it's almost 30% lighter than a Losi. I put the Losi out for the 2nd qualifier, starting in the very back because of the resort. This time with the Losi I wasn't pushed around and was able to go from last place to second. I put the AE out for the third qual and start second on the grid. All is good at the start, I passed the Losi truck in front of me clean and all is good until I get into lap traffic and the Losi tanks were able to do the same thing again.
I love the technology AE has built into the SC10 4X4 (and part of that is relatively light weight), but current motor and battery technology allows much, much heavier trucks to run the same speed. With the culture of SC racing, I just don't know if the AEs technology is going to be able to overcome the brute force of the heavy weights.
FYI... I ran the Losi in the main and came in second behind another Losi.
