Yeah, tamiya is pretty strict with their rules. You can't even use aftermarket screws or washers (don't know how they tell) and you still have to use the dreaded tamiya connectors to this day.
The rules are not
that strict. Obviously hop ups have to be Tamiya but certain hardware etc can be non tamiya, like screws and washers. Tamiya connectors are not required as well. Just look up the rules.
