I find they are a very soft rubber which is what makes them so grippy, but they are so soft that i found the sidewalls would start to rip(the rubber itself). Once this happens they can become inconsistent, but if you regularly maintain the sidewalls with ca glue you can definitely get a lot of life out of them, even running them down to the bead.
