The port number being the same does not make them similar in any way but port numbers. The WS9 is a 7 port engine, but it is a square stroke engine. The X11 and F11 are both long stroke engines. If he is looking for something with the same smooth power that would be the X11. The F11 is a very powerful engine and will not have the smooth power like a WS9 does, it will be a very abrupt and aggressive powerband.
Believe me, the ws9 is cloeser to the F11 seven port, than the X11 three port.It won't have the same top end.

They are basically the same engine. Looks like the F11 actually comes with the same head button the old C6USA had tho. They have the onroad crankshaft in them and that makes them a lot more aggressive. I used to run onroad cranks in my truggy engines to get the extra grunt I wanted.
On road cranks are timed for top end, not low end grunt.
