Important diff info"
I put 3 new diffs in my SCTE a while back and desided to see if the
"diff fluid" silicone or "diff grease" held up better.
I put diff fluid in the front & center & stock grease in the rear which takes
the most abuse in this truck IMO.
Took all 3 apart last night and the front/center had wore out sun gear
shims. The washers behind the planetary gears were pounded into the
back of the gears and the blocks.
The rear diff with stock gease had no wear on anything anywhere at all.
The whole diff looked like new except the grease was real blackish gray
in color.
So IMO the silicone diff fluid makes a great tuning tool but a crappy lube
for the diff parts.
All 3 diffs were new at the start of this test. I ran 40+ batteries through
it to get these results with AE SC10 2wd gear diff pins in all 3 diffs.
